How will we work together
1. Strategy
After discussing my availability and your project needs, you will assign me content topic and detailed content brief, so I have everything I need to get started. I’m happy to jump on a call to discuss projects, especially if we’re working together for the first time (between 9am-4pm BST/GMT).
2. Deposit payment
After we’ve both agreed on the project terms and the deadline for the outline, I will send a 50% deposit invoice (payable upon receipt) before I start the work. I work with international clients and can accept different payment methods.
3. Outline
To ensure we’re heading in the right direction, I create an outline based on your content brief (I can also provide my own template) and send it as a Google Doc. This way, you and/or all relevant stakeholders can have their input in shaping the piece before I write. Outline write-up can take between 3-5 business days, depending on the project.
4. Writing process
After all stakeholders have approved the outline, it’s time for me to interview subject matter experts and write. Some blog articles may take 3-7 business days for the writeup, while longer-form pieces will be 7+ business days. Sometimes, life gets in the way, and SMEs have to cancel or postpone their interviews, but I will always communicate the deadline expectations so you’re never left guessing.
5. Final balance
I will also issue a final payment invoice upon submitting my first draft. My preferred payment method is net15.
6. Last touches
When you receive my first draft, it’s time for you to leave any comments and suggestions. I only request that all stakeholders have input and that all changes are submitted at once. I will do up to one draft revision and send back the piece for a last look so it is ready to be published. ✨
Questions you may want to ask
Yes! Most of my work is by-lined, but if you’re looking for ghost-written content, I require an additional 20% payment. This helps make up for not being able to build on my brand name and authority.
I create outlines and write drafts in a Google Doc I can share with you and all stakeholders. You can then jump in the document to make any comments and suggestions.
For all new projects, I request at least a two-week lead time. This may change throughout the year and depends on holidays and other projects. If your content needs to get out YESTERDAY, I can offer a 25% priority fee, but the easiest thing to do is get in touch and start the conversation today.
If you send any outline or draft revisions/requests 30 or more days after I submit my work to you, I will consider it a fresh project and invoice accordingly. This has never happened so far, though! We are all human so if there are any circumstances out of our control, I will always communicate it as soon as possible and would expect the same from my clients.
Writing and creating content is my passion but there are some aspects of marketing that I don’t do:
- Copywriting
- Social media management
- SEO strategy
- Outreach to publications for article submissions / PR
Working with international clients, async communication works best for me (email, Loom, or Slack for some projects). I’m happy to get on a call for kick-off and other major milestones (between 9am-4pm BST/GMT, usually Thursdays)
