What’s an MVP?
Most valuable product? Most viable product? Other TLA’s are available. (MMP, MMI,MPI…)
Putting my product Engineer’s hat on, and visible after enough conversations, I usually see a core fundamental data strategy forming in my brain. Somebody has this bit of data, transfers it over here. Processes it in some way, checks it or enriches it with other bits of data. Leveraging this or that other thing. For me, if you can see it early enough, and test you can do it simply enough, that's the MVP.
Putting my Product engineer’s hat on, and visible after enough conversations, I usually see a reason the customer has this bit of information, what they are exchanging it for and why. There are also usually critical factors why they haven’t solved their problem, or what we’re going to need to be able to do to entice them to use our product. Perhaps it just needs to be easier to use. There’s got to be a single thing that we could do for them, in a simple way, that would tell us if it would work. That’s the MVP.
Mix those together and, if you can’t create it in 10 weeks on your own, it’s not an MVP.
